Color Capabilities

The current driver is capable of generating 16.7 millions colors for raster and bitmap images.

CorelDRAW(TM) 5.0 - Invisible layers:

Corel Version 5.0 and under applications, when plotting a multiple layered drawing from these applications, certain invisible layers might appear. One way to get around this problems for the user to export the current drawing to a image file, i.e. BMP, JPG, etc. Then plot this image. The plot should be fine.

Aldus Freehand 4.0 - Invisible layers:

When printing an drawing from Aldus Freehand 5.0, the printer driver can not correctly interpret the information from the application, this problem is due to the driver not extracting the invisible layers in the image or drawing and the driver outputs these layers as gray squares. This problem will be fixed in a future release of the driver.

Microsoft Publisher 2.0 - Inconsistent Orientation:

Microsoft Publisher 2.0, the application has some inconsistencies, for example, when the user chooses Portrait setting, the application sets the output to Landscape. Use of this application may result in undesirable output when using the Graphtec printer device driver.

Size and Limitations:

Most Windows 95 applications have a limit on the size of page they support. If you exceed the maximum supported page size, Windows 95 will lock up and/or data may be lost. In most applications, the maximum specified width must be less than 62.6 inches (the plotter's maximum width is 52.8" except for the JX1130 which is 54.0") and the maximum specified height must be less than 109.21inches. The applications tested with this limitation are:

Other applications have their own limitations on width and height. Check the documentation for your application to determine its maximum supported page size.

Paper Source Option:

The Windows 95 Driver sends remote control commands that set specific functions on the printer and these functions have certain interactions with other functions within the printers programming. The option that seems to be causing the most confusion is the "Paper Source" selection.

The "Paper Source" selection interacts with the "Save Paper" and "Cut from roll" options. When "Roll Feed" is selected the "Save Paper" and "Cut from roll" options are active. When "Manual" is selected the "Save Paper" and "Cut from roll" options are inactive and will be grayed out.

If you have roll media loaded on your printer, it is very important that you select Roll Feed" in the "Paper Source" option and check the "Save Paper" option. If roll media is loaded and "Manual" is selected in the "Paper Source" option, the "Save Paper" option will be inactive, which will result in wasted media before and after the image.

For Example:

You have loaded a 36" wide roll of media on your printer, the printer has set the available plot area to a maximum 35.6" x 46.4". In the Windows 95 Control Panel for the printer you have set the "Paper Source" to "Manual". From your application you are printing an image that is 11" x 17". When the printer receives this file, it will set "ROLL=OFF" and "SAVE MEDIA=OFF" and your 11" x 17" image will be printed in the center of the 35.6" x 46.4" plot area, scrolling the media before and after the image so that it is centered on the page. The Result, lots of wasted media. If you had set the "Paper Source" to "Roll Feed" and the "Paper Size" to 11" x 17", "Save Paper" is now active and the image will print without scrolling the media forward and will not scroll additional media after the image is complete.

If your image is a custom size (a size not listed in the Paper Size option), be sure to set your "Paper Size" to "Custom Size" and specify the exact size you need. This will avoid wasted media.

Print Cut Color Option:

The Print Cut Color Option is used when you want to print the cut line which you have drown in your application. To select this option, click on the check box. The cut line is specified in the driver's Choose Color option, Which lets you select the color you want assigned to the cut line.

The default cut line color is Black (RGB=255,255,255) and Print Cut Color option is not selected. In this case, black lines created on a drawing applications may not be printed. If the Black Lines in your application do not represent cut lines and should be printed, you should either click on the Print Cut Color check box to select it, or select a different cut line color for the Choose Color option. This will enable the black lines to be printed.

If lines in a specific color only are not printed, it may be assumed that this color has been assigned as a cut line color in the driver. When initially selecting a cut line color, take care to assign a color which is not normally used for printing.

Color Matching:

This driver comes equipped with color matching capabilities. This will enable the user to match the Graphtec SignJet Pro with a pre-determined set of inks and media. These files are named with the .lnk extension.

The files that are shipped with this driver are:
