Driving Your Older Graphtec Plotter

There are two ways to drive your Graphtec plotter from any CAD, graphic, or design software. If you are using any Windows product, you can either download a driver from our website or use a HP driver since your Graphtec plotter usually emulates HPGL. If you are running from a non-Windows program (DOS, Unix, etc.), or a program that does not utilize a Windows driver, follow the instructions under "Using the HP driver" below.

Using the Drivers Found on This Website:

Note: This driver may or may not work. If it does not work, follow the "Using the HP driver" instructions below. Drivers provided by our website are for Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows NT 3.51, and Windows NT 4.0. To run your plotter using a driver provided by our website, do the following:

  1. Download one of the drivers provided by our DOWNLOAD page at our website www.graphteccorp.com.
  2. Before downloading the driver, be sure to choose OPS628w3 if you are using Windows 3.1,OPS628w9 if you are using Window 95 or greater, OPS628(NT 4.0) if you are using Windows NT 4.0, or OPS628 (NT 3.51) if you are using Windows NT 3.51.
  3. After downloading the correct driver, follow the instructions provided on how to install the driver.
  4. Next, set the DIP switches on your Graphtec plotter as follows:

If you are running the plotter through the parallel port:

Once again, follow the instructions that come with our website drivers.

Your plotter is likely to be a previous generation of one of our newer plotters, which means that the drivers are sometimes compatible with older plotters.

USING THE HP DRIVER

Your Graphtec plotter emulates HPGL; therefore install the HP7475 or the HP7550 driver that is provided by Windows. Check your Windows manual for instructions on how to install this driver.

Next, set the DIP switches as follows:
