DIP Switch Settings and Functions
4.0 DIP Switch Settings and Functions
This chapter describes the functions of the
Graphtec command set. For a description of the functions of other command
sets, see Chapter 7, "DESCRIPTION OF OTHER COMMAND SETS."
4.1 The DIP Switch Functions
The DIP switches determine the default settings
of the digitizer (the settings that will take effect when the digitizer
is initially turned on). Before connecting your digitizer to a computer,
be sure to check the settings of the DIP switches.
(1) Functions of DIP Switch 1
The bits of this switch select the default
settings of the resolution, output format, and data transmission
(coordinate-reading) mode.

Description of DIP Switch SW1 functions
- Command mode:
- Set bits 1 and 2 to OFF to select the Graphtec command mode
- Data output format:
- Set bits 3 and 4 to select the format of the data to be sent to the computer (coordinate data and flag data) to one of three output formats: ASCII, BINARY-1, or BINARY-2.
- Resolution:
- Set bits 5 and 6 to select the unit resolution of coordinate positions to one of four values: 0.1 mm, 0.025 mm, 0.005 inch, or 0.001 inch.
- Data transmission mode:
- Set bits 7 and 8 to select one of four data transmission modes: Remote, Point, Stream, or Switch Stream.
(2) Functions of DIP Switch 2
The bits of this switch select the default settings of the RS-232C
interface conditions and terminator character.

Description of DIP Switch SW2 functions
- Terminator:
- This terminator indicates the end of a block of ASCII format data. Set bit 2 of DIP switch SW2 to select either LF (line feed) or CR+LF (Carriage return + Line Feed).
- Data length:
- Set bit 3 to set the number of DATA bits per character to 7 or 8 bits.
- Parity check mode:
- When parity check is enabled, the number of even or odd bits being transferred is verified during bit transmission. Set bits 4 and 5 to select no parity check (none), even parity check (Even), or odd parity check (Odd).
- Number of stop bits:
- A stop bit indicates the end of a character during data transmission. Set bits 6 to select one or two stop bits per character.
- Baud rate:
- Set bits 7 and 8 to select the data transfer rate as the number of bits to be transmitted per second. The baud rate can be set within a range to 2400 to 19,200 bits/second.
(2) Factory Presets
